Hi, I have an old iwc pocket watch with the case number 6731. The dial is on the side and the case says 18 k gold. The movement looks like the classic jones movement and as 1775 engraved on the movement. also engraved is the word Romney. A few clock "experts" have told me they think it is for the 1880's but I thought the jones movement were made between 1868 and 1875? Anyone have any ideas?
Some Jones movements were assembled after 1875, but if your watch
a) only says Romney (and not Greenleaf Romney) b) has a serial number on the movement of 1775 (which makes sense for a Romney, since those have a first klnown number of 1515 and a last of 2803) c) is a stem wound watch, and d) probably has a "B" on the movement
Thanks!

then your watch should be from 1872-3.
