The new Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph has all the precision of a nautical instrument in its genes. Powered by the rugged IWC-manufactured 89360-calibre movement and water-resistant to 6 bar, the chronograph demonstrates its sporting qualities with a flyback function and an additional flange with quarter-second calibration for recording short periods of time. Longer stop times (hours/minutes) can be read off like a second time on a separate analogue subdial.
The name of the Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph harks back to the legendary Yacht Club Automatic of the 1960s and 70s, an ocean-going watch so excellent that it became one of IWC’s most successful watches ever. The Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph has all the precision of a nautical instrument in its genes and boasts a wealth of advanced tech-nical features. Powered by the rugged IWC-manufactured 89361-calibre movement and water-resistant to 6 bar, the chronograph makes no secret of its sporting credentials with a fly- back function, an additional flange with quarter-second calibration for recording short periods of time and an analogue display for longer stop times on a subdial. The Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph is the only Portuguese model to feature crown protection along with luminescent hands and indices. It is available in stainless steel with a black or silver-plated dial and in red gold with a slate-coloured dial and black totalizers. It is supplied with a rubber strap, making it the perfect companion for water sports of all kinds.

Developed and manufactured completely by IWC in Schaffhausen, the 89360-calibre chronograph movement features a significantly improved self-winding system and sets watchmaking standards. The design, which occupied an IWC development team for a full 4 years, was necessitated by a revolutionary chronograph display that enables the user to read off even relatively long times – 8 hours and 52 minutes, for example – at a glance: a circular totaliser combines the hour and minute counters as if they were a watch within a watch. Apart from this, the winding system now has four instead of two pawls to transmit the energy developed by the rotor, increasing the mechanism’s efficiency by a noticeable 30 percent. After further development, the movement was known as the 89800 calibre and used for the large digital date and month displays in the Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month.

A truly Beautiful example of IWC Craftsmanship !
Incredible piece of design. IWC have maintained the elegance of the Portuguese and added a little extra size and wrist-presence for that sporty edge.
My current favorite and next on the 'must have' list!
Incredible and extraordinary design. A wonderful watch that creates desire and high expectations. For sure. This is IWC stands for!
Fantastic!!!!
El reloj mas hermoso y simple!
I got this watch since a month with the white dail and it's a truly extraordinary piece of craftsmanship. Unbelievable how detailed this watch is; every time I look at it I keep dicovering new details. Not too big, especially not too small and with a very sportive yet classic look it is just an amazing piece of time!
Cheer with the artist who knew to magnify this part in single jewels, the remainder is illusory, alone this beautiful watch represents… “Magnificence”
I have no words.....
i have to say that this is one of the most beautiful watches ive ever seen
Is there any pourtugese small seconds edition ?
/
Fantastic, absolutely fantastic...
Where do I buy it in Brazil?
I will get end of this month.
Woderful !!!
je kiffe
Very disappointed. Loved this watch so much that I bought 2. White and a black face. Sorry to say. The one failed within the first month, and the second 2 weeks later. Small stopwatch started to activate on its own, and the other, push buttons, stooped working. watches had to be sent to Switzerland, according to dealer could take 4 month to get them back. I am An IWC fan with a collection of topgun, Aqutimer 2000, Aquatimer vintage collection and 2 yachtclubs. Hope for a better luck with the others in my collection

This watch really has the X factor.....extraordinary design. Went to the IWC shop to buy the aquatimer galapagos...but returned home with a Portuguese Yacht club.
Thank you IWC for replacing my two yacht club with new ones. Great service from top company.
fantastic!!!
I'm a bit disappointed with IWC's customer service thus far. I sent an email with a couple of questions two weeks ago, and have yet to receive a response. Makes me nervous as a potential buyer - if this is how I'm treated before I buy, what can I expect when they already have my money?
Dear PeteNYC
We are very sorry to hear your problem. We will contact you directly to better understand your situation and provide you with the most convenient solution.
Best wishes from Schaffhausen
Can I special order this with a leather band? I love the watch but want leather so I can wear professionally as well.
No pictures of this?
Dear CSND,
Thank you for your request.
The Portuguese Yacht Culb is usually delevered with a black rubber strap. But there are leather straps in black and brown available for the Yacht Club model. For availability of the particular leather strap please contact your local authorized retailer which can be found by the function "find a retailer" on our homepage.
Best wishes from Schaffhausen
I did inquire about the leather strap and they had no idea about it and said it could not happen. I have yet to see pictures anywhere. Very frustrating getting mixed signals. Please point me in the right direction on where to see pictures and where to order.

The spirit of navigation. Precision. Trust. Heritage. Time.
Arsenal's Arsene Wenger is wearing this!
Thinkng of getting the black colour, any ideal how much it cost?
Hello IWC, please send me the same information you sent to CSND regarding non-rubber straps available for the yacht club. Thank you
the best
Somehow, IWC again blends elegance and excitement in the Yacht Club Chrono.
Dear Michie,
As you might find on the internet, the watch with the black dial, stainless steel body will cost around $12600. I'm pretty sure you can get a good deal with your local authorized retailer. I have chosen the one with the white dial, and have had no problems at all with it (as mentioned above by other posters). It is a great timepiece and I enjoy it daily. Everything is just perfect about this watch. Good luck and especially enjoy buying your own
beautiful
I am lucky enough to have one - silver dial. Of my watches, I wear it the most nowadays, even to the office.
Reading Benza's comments, interestingly, my silver face Yacht-Club just stopped working and is now being serviced. It was working well for about 10-11 months when the flyback chronograph pusher stopped working without incident. I love IWC watches. Currently own a new Aquatimer 2000, a steel Portuguese Automatic with the black dial in addition to the silver dial Portuguese Yacht-Club which is now in for service. I also just bought my dad a new Portofino! I'm hoping everything works out. Could this be a flaw in the movement? Everyone else has raved about it in their posts. It certainly has been my favorite watch by far.
Extraordinary watch!!!
My Yacht Club was serviced in a timely fashion and is working perfectly! Thank you to IWC, my favorite watch brand. BTW... my dad loves his new Portofino (IW356501). Absolutely beautiful watch.
Disappointed, just bought e white face in Sep 11,unfortunately e chrono on the 2pm got jam up...just wore e watch for e 2nd time, dealer said needs 2 mth to service..
lol

I got my first IWC yesterday, the white Yatch Club. It's a very beautiful watch and I'm loving it a lot. Kudos to IWC and I look forward to more IWC watches in the future.
Very very disappointed for an almost 11 000 euros watch. I bought a black face. Sorry to say. It failed within the second month. Push button, stooped working. Additionally to this first issue, oscillating mass was too slow. The watch had to be sent to Switzerland, according to dealer could take 4 to 6 weeks to get it
back. I was told by the French retailer that if a shock could be proved by IWC , warranty will not be applied. A bit strong, I am so careful with such desired Yacht Club !
Dear "Tintin2113",
we are very sorry to hear of that issue but we are sure that your timepiece will soon be fixed. If you have further questions or would like to have an update please contact our customer service here: http://www.iwc.com/en-us/contact/

Re comment TINTIN2113
I had the exact same issue 1 month after purchase. Very disappointing. Bought on new year and broke on Feb. 1. The watch is still not back from repair. I was told by IWC that this could happen since they manufacture so many watches... However I believe this is extremely disappointing. Imagine a brand new BMW breaking down after 4 weeks!
What has been established as the best watch winder settings for this calibre?
Looking at the comments, hope that when I get one of these the watch workings perfectly for at least 2 years before it goes in for a service. The stop watch seems to be the problem...
Are there any leather band or this watch? I had a look at a AD, they placed on the watch with another Portuguese lether band, the leather band seemed too thin. Are there any genuine IWC leather band that are thicker and would suit it more???
Just got Yacht club back from repair. I did not get any note of apology or explanation. Being an IWC fan for years and looking at their great watches and complications, I actually lost trust in the quality of the watch. Expected much more from IWC! Disappointing.
I love this watch. But I'm not happy.
I too have had problems with the buttons not 2 weeks after purchase. My watch repaired, is now giving trouble again. I don't think the design lives up to what you say here, never mind the investment made. I'm concerned it will not longer be water resistant.
Re CRB: I agree with you fully and actually expected IWC to at least get in contact with customers. I wonder if they will recall the watch for manufacturing problems...
just bought this piece today...=)
still wondering if it is safe for daily use. any info guys? how about impact, any info about it?
The Yacht Club was finally repaired after 5 weeks. No apology or explanation were provided except an extension of 1 year warranty. I am just hoping the problem is definitely fixed. As Baroncharles, I legitimately expected much more from IWC and their communication (except for this very transparent forum)!
Dear Mr. Baroncharles,
we are very sorry to hear of your problem.
Clearly we are aiming for the best quality possible and therefore constantly work on several aspects to achieve that:
1) Quality control on purchased material
2) Several points of quality control during assembling of each timepiece. It takes days and weeks to finish each timepiece and at each step functions and quality are checked
3) Accuracy control: After each watch is finished it`s running for several days to prove it`s working within our quality standards
4) Final quality control: Before it leaves Schaffhausen each single watch is checked with several specific test by trained staff
5) Quality management department: There is a dedicated department working on new projects to analyze mistakes and optimize our overall quality as a regular process.
To follow up and understand more tt would be great if you could let us know where you handed your watch in for service?
If you have further questions please contact us here: http://www.iwc.com/en-us/contact/
With best wishes from Schaffhausen
Dear Mr. Stinkytofu,
there are specific leather straps in black and brown available for the Yacht Club. They are the same used for the Portuguese Automatic and have a width of 22mm. For purchasing information like prices or availability please contact an IWC boutique or an authorized retailer. You can find the nearest location here:

Dear Mr. CRB,
we are very sorry to hear of your problem. We will contact you directly right away to understand more.
Best wishes from Schaffhausen
Dear Tintin2113,
we are sorry that you didn`t receive a apology for the inconvenience or an explanation. This clearly should have happend.
Could you please provide us with more details so we can follow up? Where did you hand in your watch for service?
Best wishes from Schaffhausen
Dear Iskandarandy,
As a matter of principle, you should avoid strong vibrations and impacts (e.g. when playing golf or tennis, mountain biking etc.). A mechanical wristwatch is a precision instrument whose manufacture involves working to tolerances of hundredths or even thousandths of a millimetre. Repeated sharp impacts can have a negative influence on the movement’s accuracy or even cause damage.
Best wishes from Schaffhausen
Thank you for the info, great watch... looking forward for another one in the near future...=)
